PRESENTATION |
The
game consists of the 4 basic elements :
EARTH : a green ring (point of departure and arrival)
AIR : a rotating disk containing 17 spaces
WATER : 4 blue playing pieces
FIRE : 4 red playing pieces
|
PREPARING TO PLAY |
Each
player selects a colour (red or blue) and places the pieces of that colour
on the corresponding spaces on the green ring (blue on blue marks, red
on red marks), with the small coloured spot uppermost. The rotating disk
is then placed inside the ring, with one space opposite each coloured
piece.
The two players decide which of them will start.
|
AIM OF THE GAME |
The winner is the first
player to place all of his pieces on his opponent’s starting positions.
|
THE GAME |
Before reaching its destination, each piece MUST stop at
the centre point, at which moment it is turned over so that the large
coloured spot is facing uppermost. Thus filled with energy, the player
has the option of IMMEDIATELY disrupting the game by rotating the disk
a 1/8 turn in either direction. Whether or not he chooses to move the
disk, that player MUST play the piece occupying the centre point.
|
MOVES - 2 possibilities |
1/
At each turn of play, the player may move one of his pieces onto the next
space following along the straight or curved lines on the rotating disk.
2/ A player may jump over one or more of his OPPONENTS pieces, on condition
that there is an empty space between them (along the straight or curved
lines on the rotating disk).Warning : It is not permitted to change direction
MID-WAY through a jump (see examples of forbidden spaces in FIGS 1 and
2)
|
FIGURES |
In
sequence FIG 1 : a possible move for the red player (red quickly places
one of his pieces at the centre by jumping over the 3 blue pieces. Once
at the centre, it is turned over to expose the large coloured spot. The
red player may then, if he wishes, also rotate the disk a 1/8 turn during
this turn of play. Then, FIG. 2 : a possible move for the blue player
(the red player having elected to rotate the disk a 1/8 turn, providing
the blue player with the possibility of immediately moving one of his
pieces onto a red starting position !).
FIG 3 : example of end of game. The blue player has won : all of his pieces
occupy the starting positions of the red pieces.
The forbidden spaces associated with the suggested move in each figure
are indicated by an orange
.

FURTHER INFORMATION |
-
When a piece first starts out, it must move onto the space immediately
in front of it unless it is occupied by one of the opponent’s pieces,
in which case it must jump over it.
- A piece may start out on its journey without waiting for other pieces
of the same colour to have arrived at their destination.
- Pieces may not jump over other pieces of the same colour.
- Once turned over the pieces shall remain with the large coloured spot
uppermost until the end of the game, however many times they pass back
over or stop at the centre.
- A player is entitled to move the rotating disk 1/8 of a turn each time
that one of his pieces stops at the centre.
- At any stage of the game, a player may pass via the centre without stopping
in order to jump over several of his opponent’s pieces. In such
a case, the player may not rotate the disk.
- The positions marked on the green outer ring are the start and finish
positions only.
- When a player is unable to play (and only in this case), he shall forfeit
his turn.
- The game will be declared a draw if the player having started the game
first places his last piece just before the other player.
